Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman walked back his earlier report that Jeff Halpern will interview with the Capitals this week. He said he was told by several the interview has already occurred. He also said he is hearing Spencer Carbery is the leader for the job right now. [Sportsnet] [at 36:00]

Capitals forward prospect Ryan Hofer scored his first goal of the Memorial Cup on Saturday night. He has a goal and two assists in the first two games of the tournament.

Hofer finished with 40 goals and 28 assists in 66 regular season games played. He shot the puck 278 times for a 14.38% shooting percentage. He added eight goals and seven assists in 14 WHL postseason games. Hofer signed with the Capitals on March 1 and will move to Hershey this fall.

    Looking forward to seeing Hofer in Hershey next year. Hershey will have a whole new look next year with hopefully McMichael and Protas full time in NHL. Trineyev and Suzdalev. Lapierre and Iorio a full year developed.
