Washington Capitals centerman Evgeny Kuznetsov took a high hit from Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba early in the third period of Sunday’s game against the Wild. Kuznetsov remained on the ice for a brief period of time, but was eventually able to skate off under his own power, hunched over, favoring his shoulder.

No penalty was called on the play.
The hit caused Capitals winger T.J. Oshie to drop the gloves with Dumba immediately following the hit.

Kuznetsov did not return to the game. The Capitals have yet to provide an official update on his status.
Laviolette didn’t have an update on Evgeny Kuznetsov, who didn’t come back after the hit by Dumba in the third period.
“I don’t like the hit…a player is vulnerable like that and takes a pop at his head. I don’t like the hit.” Laviolette said.
