Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette met with the media when arriving at Capital One Arena this afternoon. He announced that captain Alex Ovechkin (lower body injury) will be a game time decision, forward Sonny Milano will miss a second-straight game due to a non-Covid illness and Charlie Lindgren will get the start in goal tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.

Both Ovechkin and Milano missed last night’s 5-3 loss to the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. This will be Lindgren’s first game since February 26, also against the Sabres in Buffalo.
The team did not hold a gameday morning skate this morning, so there were no line rushes. For reference, here are the forward lines and defensive pairs from last night:
Conor Sheary — Evgeny Kuznetsov — Tom Wilson
Joe Snively — Dylan Strome — T.J. Oshie
Anthony Mantha — Nicklas Backstrom — Craig Smith
Aliaksei Protas — Nic Dowd — Nicolas Aube-Kubel
Rasmus Sandin — Trevor Van Riemsdyk
Martin Fehervary — Nick Jensen
Matt Irwin — Alexander Alexeyev
