Capitals Blueline Prospect Joaquim Lemay Selected To 2023 NCHC All-Rookie Team

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) announced its 2022-23 All-Rookie Team on Tuesday, with five different teams represented on the six-man squad. Capitals defensive prospect Joaquim Lemay and fellow Nebraska-Omaha blueliner Jacob Guevin were the two defensemen selected to this years team.

D: Joaquim Lemay, Omaha – 37 (11)
D: Jacob Guevin, Omaha – 35 (11)
G: Kaidan Mbereko, Colorado College – 36 (10)

Lemay, 20, was drafted in the fourth round, 119th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals.  He played in 29 games and scored his one goal of the campaign in the series finale against Long Island where he also registered one of his 10 assists. He tallied his only multi-point game of the year in that game.

The rookie blueliners have combined for 26 points this season. Guevin lit the lamp three times and added 12 assists for his season point total of 15 in 33 games played. Guevin was also named an NCHC Defenseman of the Week in January.

The No. 17 Omaha Mavericks battle with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the opening round of the NCHC Tournament this weekend. The Mavericks finished 3rd in the regular season while the Fighting Hawks placed 6th.
