First Look At Capitals Stadium Series Jerseys

The Washington Capitals new Stadium Series jerseys apparently dropped overnight. Washington Capitals radio producer Mike Callow was the first to report the new uniforms on Thursday morning. It’s expected the team will make a formal release later today.

ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski also added the Carolina Hurricanes jerseys for the game in a tweet this morning.

As noted, it’s expected the Capitals and Hurricanes will release more information on the new uniforms later today.

ESPN will broadcast the 2023 NHL Stadium Series game between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes at Carter-Finley Stadium on the campus of NC State on February 18.

I’m undecided whether I like them as a fan who might wear one, but I think both jerseys will look pretty great on TV and to fans sitting high up in the stadium on game day.

  2. Lance says:

    No.

    • Jon Sorensen says:

With ya Lance. I think I’ll save my $$ on this one.

      • Lance says:

I don’t even hate ‘em. They just look like a generic practice jersey you’d get at Target. The uni squad is totally out of control at NHL HQ.

Lance has it right a practice jersey. One would think that the NHL pushing the Stadium Series so much would come out with a better sweater than that. Buy it….heck NO! The NHL can have those ugly things!!

      • GRin430 says:

I actually like the Caps one, but I’ve always liked the eagle logos — both the weagle and screagle — more than the wordscript. The most interesting part is the stitching on the eagle’s head.

As to buying one? Nah… $190 is ridiculously expensive, plus I’ve never bought any of them — the only sweaters/jerseys I have are the ones the Caps gave to STHs… which I never wore anyway. But I’m sure the NHL will sell enough of them to convince them to do more specials ones next year… or maybe even this year… there’s still plenty of time to design and SELLLLLLL!!!!!!! yet another version!

I just think it’s stupid to come up w a new jersey for one game. Wear the navy.

  4. novafyre says:

Well, will be easy to tell the two teams apart. I’m never in favor of enlarged logos. I think with the logo on the back it might be a good sweatshirt or jacket. Still, it’s not as bad as all the other ones I have seen lately, especially all those with a word in front.

  5. Mark Eiben says:

Your link only brings you to hurricanes jersey. btw I like these myself.

  6. hockeydruid says:

Hate to say this but agree with others that it looks like a practice sweater. To me it would be better just to go with the teams 3rd jersey rather than make something like this just to make the league money. Honestly this is a disgrace and the NHL can do better than this ugly sweater!

  7. Hien says:

I like this design! Stadium Series jersey design is an opportunity to be more experimental, unlike the regular, 3rd, or Winter Classic jerseys and this certainly fits the billing!

  8. Scottlew73 says:

Hate to say but instead of inventing “new” jersey designs, why not stick with teams base colours & do Alternate version like 80’s caps jersey’s but instead of white & red base’s try blue with white & red stars!!
To a point fans going to game that are able are going to have to pick which jersey from last 10 years thier going to wear!!
