The son of Brett Hull took to Twitter Monday night to show his disapproval of Alex Ovechkin’s 741st career NHL goal – the goal that tied his father for fourth on the NHL’s all-time goals list. Jude Hull, 27, gave three thumbs down to a video of Ovechkin’s milestone tying tally.

As expected, it didn’t take long for Jude to begin feeling the wrath of Ovechkin fans world wide, including those fans in Ovechkin’s home country of Russia. (Hull’s Tweet was very “popular” in the Russian sports media on Tuesday. Here, here and here).
Russian Twitter is really coming after me today 😂😂😂

Hull replied to his original tweet following numerous replies, many of them in Russian or with Russian origins.
I guess in Russia you aren’t supposed to support your father and be disappointed when his all-time achievement is tied or surpassed??? Am I understanding this correctly??

But not all of the disproving replies were from Russia. Many of the replies were from hockey fans from around the globe.
Thanks to OVI, we found out that Hull has a son) 😝

While both his father and grandfather, Bobby “the Golden Jet” Hull, are in the Hockey Hall of Fame, Jude’s hockey career came to a close in 2018 following four years as a goaltender for St. Olaf College.
