Pierre-Luc Dubois exits the Capitals' game versus Pittsburgh with an upper-body issue

An injury cut short Pierre-Luc Dubois' Saturday, the center seeing only 7:02 on the ice in the game against Pittsburgh.

The 27-year-old was hurt when he drove into the wall behind the Penguins' cage, the clock showing 13:58 left in the middle period. Just ahead of that jarring collision with the end boards, Dubois had picked up a primary helper as Ryan Leonard found the net.

Washington announced later in that same period that Dubois, dealing with an upper-body problem, wouldn't be back for the rest of the game.

Once more, Dubois had been deployed on the club's third trio, centering the line between Leonard and Connor McMichael.

After the contest, Spencer Carbery suggested more clarity on Dubois' situation would come later. He noted they'd find out additional details that evening, that he intended to talk it over with Serbs, and that he would offer an update the following day.

This year, injuries have cost Dubois 52 games in all, the lengthiest such stretch tracing to the adductor and abdominal procedure he underwent back in November. The club has posted a 12-7-2 mark from the time he came back.

Over his 28 appearances this season, Dubois has put together 18 points, the sum of five goals and 13 helpers.
