Baltimore Orioles plan an April hockey-sweater handout

The Orioles of Baltimore have another hockey-themed sweater handout lined up for this campaign.

On the Saturday of April 25, as the club hosts Boston at Oriole Park within Camden Yards, the opening 20,000 supporters through the gates will receive a hockey jersey carrying the Orioles brand. This year's cream-colored garment takes cues from Washington's road and home looks, featuring a club wordmark adapted from Washington's classic logo. BALTIMORE runs in tilted orange type above a black orioles, while the L, colored orange, is fashioned to look like a stick from the sport.

One shoulder carries the team's snarling bird mascot, while the other shoulder displays Ledo Pizza, the giveaway's presenting sponsor. Orange-and-black striping runs along both the sleeves and the midsection, while the orange collar features black laces.

A 4:05 pm first pitch is set for that contest. Fans can grab tickets over on the Orioles' website.

This sweater handout follows the enormous success of last year's version, when throngs of supporters showed up well ahead of the gates opening to snag one.

The black version from a year ago put that scowling bird in full hockey gear. The idea took off across the internet, a single RMNB post on Instagram alone topping 13,000 shares.

Baltimore launches its year on the Thursday of March 26, hosting Minnesota at Camden Yards; the opener is slated for a 3:05 pm start.
