Washington Capitals Announce Mantha, Jensen Will Be Game-Time Decisions vs. Ottawa Senators; Oshie Out Week-To-Week

The Washington Capitals released a few injury updates going into their back-to-back, which starts on Monday against the Ottawa Senators (7 PM ET, Monumental Sports Network in-market, ESPN+ out-of-market) and wraps up Tuesday at the Detroit Red Wings. Here is a list of the news leading up to puck drop at Capital One Arena:

  • Left-wing Anthony Mantha, who suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers, and defenseman Nick Jensen (lower-body) will be game-time decisions for Monday’s tilt
    • Mantha participated in the morning skate and took full contact
      • Head coach Spencer Carbery said there is a “good chance” Mantha can go vs. Ottawa
    • Jensen, who went hard into the boards and grabbed his right leg on Saturday, left Monday’s skate early
      • Carbery said “we’ll see” if Jensen is available for Monday night
  • Right-wing T.J. Oshie, who left Thursday’s 4-3 win at the Tampa Bay Lightning with an upper-body injury, is week-to-week
    • He is currently sitting at 996 career NHL games played
  • Center Nic Dowd is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and skated briefly on Monday but did not take any contact
  • Defenseman Martin Fehervary, who has missed the last three games, is week-to-week with a lower-body injury and skated briefly on Monday but did not take any contact
    • Carbery hopes that Fehervary and Dowd can both practice fully later this week and stated that the team will go from there then
  • Goaltender Anton Forsberg will start for Ottawa
  • Darcy Kuemper will start in goal vs. Ottawa, likely meaning that Charlie Lindgren will get Detroit
  • Washington recalled left-wing Ivan Miroschnichenko before Monday’s game
  • Ottawa defenseman Artem Zub will not play due to a lower-body injury
