The Philadelphia Flyers announced prior to Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning (7 PM ET, ESPN+) that starting goaltender Carter Hart has left the team indefinitely for personal reasons.

The 25-year-old is 12-9-3 with a .906 save percentage, 2.80 goals-against average, and a shutout in 26 games this season.

The team also placed right-wing Owen Tippett on injured reserve and recalled goaltender Cal Petersen from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Petersen has allowed seven goals on 67 shots (.896) over two NHL starts and gone 5-8-2 with an .890 save percentage and 3.26 goals-against average in 15 AHL games after getting acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in June.

With Hart out, Sam Ersson (12-6-3, .909 save percentage, 2.36 goals-against average, three shutouts in 22) appears to be taking the reins in net in Philadelphia, who has lost consecutive games in regulation.

The team ranks third in the Metropolitan Division with a .596 points percentage (25-16-6 record) and leads the Washington Capitals, who have three games in hand on them, by six points in the standings.

I swear, the Curse of Pelle Lindbergh lives. The Flyers change goaltenders more often than people change their underwear. It’s a never ending carousel. Not that I’m upset about it, but it’s uncanny.

Well that is a short statement. Feels like Flyers are pissed without saying it.

Sounds like he just burned a bridge but you never know where another river crossing might open up. Corey Perry has just signed with the Oilers.

Yeah, crazy things happen out there. That is why i wonder why people don’t get culture. It is the most important thing in family, business, sports. If that is good a lot can be built.

We haven’t had any of those problems in a long time and that is because of culture.

Wonder if this has to do with the 2018 world juniors situation. Dube stepped away from Calgary as well

Great Start in MIN. Well Done Caps

Washington Nationals signed slugger Joey Gallo today for $5 million on a one-year contract. $1 mil in incentives

    Caps TURD game in progress

Orioles re-acquired Tyler Nevin from the Tigers organization for cash. Have re-signed most of their primary roster players

Even the Caps’ “Random Line Generator” fails to generate a damned thing

St. Louis Cardinals PBO Mozeliak says team has signed IF/OF Tommy Edman to a 2-year contract to avoid arbitration

Patrick Roy is popping temple veins as his Islanders scuffle against VGK. It’s 3-1 halfway through

Are the Caps playing tonight? Oh, sorry, I forgot. They’re stinking up Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul and handing the “Wild” a free-and-easy win on a silver platter

  8. Prevent Defense says:

OK It’s time to breach the subject. Fair Game the Coaching Staff!

Gallant – Boudreau – D. J. Smith – Why isn’t some franchise (like ours) beating down the Bettman door to get Joel Quenneville free to resume? I’d even take Darryl Sutter. Michel Therrien does commentary En Francais on RDS Network. Anybody’s better than the Bozo Squad we have now. Six straight goals against. No end in sight. Pi$$ Poor goaltending. The worst Blueline corps in Pro Hockey (and the goofiest D-coach of all-time). Danny Belisle was better than this crew. Summer Boo Birds — You were right

Ryan Warsofsky – Jay Leach – Jessica Campbell – Marc Savard – Joel Ward – Mike Vellucchi – Brad Shaw. That’s the “Bleacher Report” list of their favorite Candidate NHL Coaches. An intriguing list, and several got passed-over for the Caps current hire, Spencer Carbery

Why isn’t Todd Nelson on the list?

I’m all in for All New. Caps utterly $ukk and sugar-coating and wishful thinking doesn’t help. It’s year 49-50 for the franchise. The Carbery Experiment is a flop. Bring on Plan “C.”

      • novafyre says:

        Hmmm, no Jeff Halpern.

I hope that Carbs is frustrated. Very frustrated. Angry. Because someone above him is preventing him from doing his job. If he has the authority and is making all the player decisions, then I am very, very disappointed.

According to Canadian sportswriter Steve Simmons,Hart & Dube are both on leave from respective teams due to connections with sexual assault case against World junior team from years ago.
