The 33-year-old stated during breakdown day on April 15 that surgery might happen.
However, MacLellan did not sound overly concerned that Dowd will miss any of training camp in September.
Dowd missed Washington’s final three games of the season due to the injury, which he suffered in a 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on April 8.
Dowd finished the season with career-highs in goals (13) and points (25) in 65 games. He also led Washington centers with a 50.82% faceoff-winning percentage.

Father Time is undefeated.
father time has a very good record indeed. But time heals all wounds, etc etc. That is, if you don’t play 82 games of pro level ice hockey.
Unless you have players 10 years younger nipping at your heels for your job.
Yet another reason to re-sign Brian Sutter and give him a gooooood lonnnng loooook in camp.
That’s Riley Sutter. I’m showing my age again…
This is an easy slip. I’ve made a thousand times.
