Ovechkin Will Be Away From Washington Due To Family Matter

The Washington Capitals announced prior to their game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday that captain Alex Ovechkin will be away from the team to tend to a family matter and the health of a loved one.

The team did not specify how long that the 37-year-old may be gone for.

With Ovechkin away, the Capitals subsequently recalled Joe Snively from Hershey.

Washington hosts the Florida Panthers on Thursday before the 2023 NHL Stadium Series at Carter-Finley Stadium vs. Carolina on Saturday.

That’s a really dumb comment. You realize someone in his family could be dead or dying rn. Also consider the fact this happened suddenly and now?
