Alex Ovechkin scored his 15th goal of the season Sunday night in Seattle. With the goal, Ovechkin made Seattle the 17th club against whom he has scored when facing for the first time. He has now, once again, scored against all NHL teams.

Ovechkin’s tally came early in the third period, with the Capitals trailing 4-1. The goal sparked a surge by the Capitals, but former Capitals’ netminder Philipp Grubauer was able to turn away all chances.

With Ovechkin scoring in his first trip to Seattle, He has now scored in 40 different arenas and in 20 different states in his NHL career.

Ovechkin’s 11 even strength goals this season are tied with Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor for the most in the NHL. With nearly a quarter of the season now in the books, the 36-year-old is on pace for 65 goals this season.

Ovechkin is now 150 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky on the NHL’s all-time goals list. He is just 22 goals away from passing Jaromir Jagr for third on the all-time list and just 57 goals away from passing Gordie Howe for second on the all-time list.

Ovechkin has already moved up two places on the all-time goals list this season, surpassing Marcel Dionne and the greatest American goal scorer, Brett Hull.

The Capitals now head home and will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Montreal Canadiens at Capital One Arena.
