As part of a hockey-themed week that took place at the Winter Universiade 2019 Pavilion on Tatyshev Island in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, former Washington Capitals’ player, Alexander Semin, met with youth hockey players and shared his experiences with them on August 3. He held a master class for pupils of the Sokol HC school, signed autographs, and talked about how to succeed in sports.

Semin himself said in an interview, “Today I was glad to talk to young sports amateurs and share my knowledge with them. Youth meetings are a very effective thing. We should promote sports and a healthy lifestyle extensively. It is great that there is such a venue as the Pavilion of the Winter Universiade-2019 in Krasnoyarsk, where aspiring athletes can ask questions directly to team coaches. I am glad that a lot of children come here, because they are our future.”

Semin is one of the ambassadors for the Winter Universiade 2019 games. The ambassadors are designated to promote university sports and a healthy life style in Krasnoyarsk. Other ambassadors included other famous athletes and artists from the region.

The Winter Universiade allows university student athletes from many different countries to compete in different sports. It is held every other year in a different city. The event incorporates cultural and educational aspects into 11 days of competition.

This summer, the Winter Universiade Pavilion was open to the public to demonstrate and promote the various sports involved in the competition, including hockey.
