While the Washington Capitals’ 2022-23 season is drawing to a close, their American Hockey League affiliate Hershey Bears are gearing up for a 2023 Calder Cup run. The Caps’ 2020 first-round pick Hendrix Lapierre figures to be among the team’s key players in their quest for a twelfth championship and on Saturday recorded a hat trick against the Charlotte Checkers.
Lapierre, who entered the game against Charlotte with 12 goals on the season, scored his first goal of the game just two minutes and 58 seconds into the contest, on assists from Vincent Iorio and Julien Napravnik.

Lapierre’s first career hat trick in the AHL comes in a rookie season in which he has felt the growing pains of professional hockey, with stretches of rough play and healthy scratches to “reset” mentally. The 21-year old native of Gatineau, Quebec now has 15 G, 15 A, and 30 Points in 58 Games Played.
