The Washington Capitals fell to the Minnesota Wild, who were 11-0-3 in their previous 14 games before a 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday, by a score of 5-3 at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday afternoon. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 35 saves in the loss.

Fucale, who was recalled from the AHL’s Hershey Bears on Saturday, backed up Lindgren after Kuemper got nicked up in practice. Washington made no other changes from Friday’s 5-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Friday. Ovechkin was labeled as a game-time decision due to a lower-body injury.

Sandin tallied his 11th point (10th helper) in eight games with Washington. Sandin has recorded a point in six of his eight games with Washington since making his team debut on March 4. Four of Sandin’s 10 assists with the team have come on the power play. Ovechkin has recorded 34 points (18 goals) in 21 career games against Minnesota and has registered a point in every game he has played in the State of Hockey dating to Oct. 12, 2006 (14 goals, 23 points in 12). The goal marks Ovechkin’s 26th goal in 45 career regular-season games against Fleury, the most goals he has scored against a single goaltender in his career.
