First Period

Scoring

0:50, 1-0 Minnesota: Johansson’s wrister from the side was stopped by the left pad of Lindgren before Boldy pounced on the rebound and slid it past him.

Second Period

Scoring

5:31, 2-1 (PPG): After Sandin held a clearing puck in the offensive zone, he stepped and fed Ovechkin, who was above the left dot, for a one-timer to the top right corner off of Fleury’s arm and his 38th of the season. Sandin tallied his 11th point (10th helper) in eight games with Washington. Sandin has recorded a point in six of his eight games with Washington since making his team debut on March 4. Four of Sandin’s 10 assists with the team have come on the power play. Ovechkin has recorded 34 points (18 goals) in 21 career games against Minnesota and has registered a point in every game he has played in the State of Hockey dating to Oct. 12, 2006 (14 goals, 23 points in 12). The goal marks Ovechkin’s 26th goal in 45 career regular-season games against Fleury, the most goals he has scored against a single goaltender in his career.

10:14, 3-1: Hartman spun around to fight Alexeyev off of his back along the wall, took a few steps, and ripped a shot before Reaves tipped it through Lindgren’s five-hole.

Shaw took down Irwin as the two threw punches and the period expired.

Another slow start. Coach nor players are ready.

Second place Stingrays beat the first place Icemen 5-2. Tyler Wall saved 19 of 21. Bear Hughes had one assist and one sog, KimRB’s fave Michael had 4 sog but no goals or assists. [Sorry] Next game is Saturday when Maine Mariners come to visit.

We got bent over, and you-know-what by the refs in this one. How is that not a hit to the head? And you can’t expect anything from DOPS. They’ll probably make Oshie apologize for starting the fight.

The hockey gods owe us. A lot!

I’m calling it. I now hope we lose as many games as possible whilst Ovi gets some goals. See you next year!
Also, how is that not a hit to the head?
And how is that not a reviewable play? What a league this is…

Jacob Punturi of The Hockey News has an article “Penguins Better Off Missing the Playoffs.” Worth a read. Our twin since Sid drafted. Situation so similar, so familiar to Caps fans this year. So hard for fans to accept.

  7. novafyre says:

When the Stingrays beat the Icemen (and jumped over them into first in the South division), the Icemen only dressed 16 players, not 19 due to injuries and military obligation.

Right now, the Stingrays and Bears are high in their playoff rankings with good chances to win the Kelly and Calder Cups. Frankly, the Caps aren’t. So right now our ECHL and AHL teams deserve the opportunity to go all the way. I hope that recalls don’t jeopardize those opportunities. The Caps owe them their chances to shine.

Hershey has returned goalie Bailey Brkin to ECHL Reading.
