The Washington Capitals held their gameday morning skate at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Wednesday. The Capitals begin their west coast swing of games tonight against the Ducks. Puck drop is set for 10PM ET.
MORNING SKATE
Defenseman Rasmus Sandin, acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, has arrived in Anaheim and skated in the Capitals morning skate on Wednesday. His status for tonight’s game is still uncertain. According to Tarik El Bashir, Sandin still has immigration issues/paper work to attend to.

Conor Sheary rejoined the Capitals after his wife gave birth to their second child, a boy, Callum.

- Los Angeles Kings longtime goaltender Jonathan Quick was dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets last night. There are reports that Quick was not too happy about moving from sunny Southern California to Columbus, Ohio. 😬
To say Jonathan Quick is unhappy with the trade, I’m told, is “an understatement.”
The entire #LAKings team was a bit down after the game, a win, and you could understandably see it in Anze Kopitar’s face after a 4-goal night.

Don’t be shocked if Quick “K 5’s” trade & retires! Should’ve been able to finish out with club on his own terms obviously Kings didn’t have any contact with him in regards to possible trade,crappy way to treat goalie that helped you win 2 Cups!
I think you nailed it, Scott. He wanted no part of moving to Columbus.
Why does the team owe him anything? He had no trade protection, and the GM who signed the deal was fired six years ago.
I wouldn’t be happy about moving to Ohio either, but Jarmo committed to “doing right” by Quick. So we’ll see.
Quicks salary this year is only $2.5m but his cap hit is $5.8m. I thought that at 35 a player received a M-NTC. I don’t blame Quick for being pissed however there isn’t much of the season left and he is a UFA after the season and I doubt he want to lose the salary for the rest of the ear So I see him retiring after the season or maybe seeing what happens over the summer before retiring if he gets no offers to his liking.
Do we know what number Sandin will be? I believe he was #38 with the Leafs
I miss the good old days before “race car numbers”, when no skater had a number above 29, except for maybe the 7th D

Ducks are scratching Klingberg and Kulikov. Might be some movement there
I’m gazing into my crystal ball, and I’ll predict there’ll be an NHL imposed limit on how many games a team can scratch a player for “trade related purposes”. Bettman brought it up already. My guess is it’ll be a topic at the next BOG meeting.
I’m sure that kind of rule change would require the NHLPA’s involvement, so this will probably be addressed in the next CBA.
Is Kuzy going to play tonight or is he still sick? Have they brought anyone up from Hershey if there is a void?
