NHL history was made on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois as Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin recorded a hat trick to become just the third player in the league’s history to reach the 800-goal plateau, moving him within one of tying “Mr. Hockey”, Gordie Howe for second all-time in Goals Scored.
As one might expect, the milestone prompted a wide array of reactions from across the hockey world and beyond. Below are just a few of the many reactions to The Great Eight’s historic accomplishment.

A night that will forever be remember in NHL history and in the minds of all who bore witness to it.

I agree with all those who complimented the fans there for being true hockey fans and recognizing just what an accomplishment this is and who Ovi is to the NHL and hockey.
And the poor Hawks players and coaches. Hard enough to do interviews after such a drubbing, but when the press, including YOUR press only wants to talk about Ovi, it must have been really hard. But they handled it well.
Would expect that kind of class from an original 6 franchise. Classy for sure. If Philly they would have thrown bottles at him. Haha.
