The Washington Capitals are set to do battle with the Jets in Winnipeg tonight. The game will be the first time that former Capitals’ forward Axel-Jonsson-Fjallby has faced his former team. He met with the media following the Jets’ morning skate.
“It’ll be fun for sure. That’s pretty much the only team I’ve played for since coming over here. They drafted me, so they have a big part of my heart. It’ll be fun,” Jonsson-Fjallby told the media this morning.
Pretty sure AJF just wanders around with a hidden wind machine to get his hair to do that 😮 pic.twitter.com/15kPXw67VE

Jonsson-Jallby was drafted by the Capitals in the 5th round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He was waived and claimed by the Buffalo Sabres last season, but subsequently waived by Buffalo and reclaimed by the Capitals.
Axel’s media session from this morning:
Jonsson-Fjallby was placed on waivers again by the Capitals this season. The Jets claimed Jonsson-Fjallby off of the waiver wire on October 10.
Jonason-Fjallby met with the Winnipeg media for the first time following his first workout with the Jets on October 13. He was asked about his reaction when he found out he was claimed by Winnipeg.
“I was super excited, when I got the news, right after the (waivers) deadline. I mean, getting claimed, I was claimed last year, too. You’re just happy because that means the team believes in you. And you’re on your way to go to the AHL and then you get a new chance somewhere else. Yeah, I’m super excited to be here.”
Axel said he sees more opportunity in Winnipeg than in Washington.
“Yeah. Just like I said, them picking me up. Giving me a chance to start the season, and show what I got. Just gives me a confidence boost, that I feel like I needed. I can focus on my game.”
Jonsson-Fjallby has one goal and one assist in 23 games played for the Jets so far this season.

In hindsight, we really yanked AJF around. Happy he’s found a regular gig. Hopefully he can get the scoring up.
Yes, yes, and ….hopefully not tonight.
Good for Ax. He paid his dues.
The flow knows…
