The Capitals have certainly been hit hard with injuries to defensemen, as of late. Workhorse Dmitry Orlov had been out since November 5, but returns tonight against the Winnipeg Jets. Young blueliner Martin Fehervary is on injured reserve, and former first-round pick Alex Alexeyev was injured on Friday night versus the Seattle Kraken.
This morning there was another casualty, as offseason addition Erik Gustafsson was injured during morning skate and left the ice early.
The Caps have announced that Gustafsson, who signed a one-year deal in free agency with the club, is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, leaving Nick Jensen and Trevor van Riemsdyk as the only two Caps’ d-men to suit up for every game this season.

APRIL FOOLS.
uh. What is April fools on Dec 11?
Crazy, ain’t it? Maybe they are cycling through to rest d-men, and give Alexeyev a roster spot.
Jagr had 2 assists and over 15 minutes of ice time in Kladno’s 7-3 loss. Twilight Zone.
Thrilled for him. Love to see him continue on ice as he is doing.
At 50? A true Wonder of the World!
Crazy….at some point, the injury bug has to die and hit some other team, right? Maybe it’s best to get the injuries out of the way now (not that it’s ever good) and get everyone back for the home stretch? As long as they can still get some points and be in the race for a playoff spot, but jeez
