The NHL confirmed today that the New York Rangers have traded right-wing Ryan Reaves to the Minnesota Wild for a fifth round pick in 2025 draft.
According to Dan Rosen, Reaves requested a trade with his agent to GM Chris Drury while the team was in Los Angeles. The Rangers wanted to accommodate him, so they acted quickly. The Wild are taking on all of what’s remaining on his $1.75M cap hit.
Reaves, 35, had been scratched in seven of the past eight games and played 7:26 in the one game he did play. Reeves played in 12 games, but recorded no points and was a -5.
Just chatted with #mnwild GM Bill Guerin. On Ryan Reaves: “It’s not for the fighting. He’s a biiiiigggg personality. He’s got a lot of energy. He’s got swagger. We’ve been missing that. The energy he brings is really good. And size. He’s gonna help us get our identity back.”

Since entering the league in 2010-11, he ranks third among active players in hits (2,645) and sixth in penalty minutes at 992. Overall in 767 games, Reaves has 54 goals and 60 assists for 114 points with St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Vegas and the Rangers.
Reaves, 35, was drafted in the fifth round in 2005 by the Blues. He’s on a one-year deal worth $1.75 million and joins a Wild team that’s been hamstrung by injury all season long.
Adios Muchachos!
Willy will be back to game speed about February. And when we play the Rangers or Penguins, he’ll get a 10 game suspension for breathing heavy on Panarin or Crosby.
Glad to see him move to the Western Conference.
At a projected WAR percentile of 3% and zero points, I wish more Metro teams would load up on guys like this for the Caps’ sake.
Not when they injure our players and maybe put our players on IR.
Roger that Lenny.
The guy’s a dangerous thug. I’m thrilled to see him go. Maybe the Wild think he will improve their injury problems by causing injuries to their opponents.
Does this mean the Rags have given up on winning the Stanley Cup this year???
Buh bye!
