Peter Laviolette In COVID Protocol

The Washington Capitals announced Friday morning that head coach Peter Laviolette is in COVID protocol. As a result, he will not coach the team in either of the weekend’s games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Capitals conclude their season-long four-game homestand tonight when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at Capital One Arena for the first of three meetings between the teams this season. Washington will complete a home-and-home set with Tampa Bay on Sunday when they visit the Lightning at Amalie Arena.

“There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.”

In a case like this where the HC goes out for a period of time who decides who will replace him…the GM or the HC? For me the logical candidate to replace him would not have been McCarthy who if just an extension of Lav and therefore will expect nothing different. I would think that maybe Scott Allen would have bee put in charge as he knows the younger players better than anyone else/ Also when Lav is fired at Thanksgiving, McCarthy is going with him and Allen will be the HC at lest for the rest of the year.
