Alex Alexeyev Will Make Season Debut Tonight Against Penguins

Capitals defenseman Alex Alexeyev announced this morning that he will make his season debut tonight against the Penguins.

The Capitals will need to make a roster move to make space available for Alexeyev. It’s likely that Connor McMichael, who is waivers-exempt and a likely scratch tonight, or Lucas Johansen, who has already cleared waivers this season, would be re-assigned to Hershey while the Capitals get a look at Alexeyev.

The Washington Capitals announced on Tuesday morning that they had recalled Alexeyev from Hershey. Alexeyev was officially re-assigned to Hershey on October 28th for a conditioning stint after rehabbing from shoulder surgery he had back in June. His stint concluded on Sunday, requiring a move by the Capitals.

The Capitals announced on June 18 that Alexeyev had undergone labral repair surgery on his left shoulder and was expected to miss 4-5 months. Alexeyev officially began his rehab assignment on October 28. He appeared in four games for the Bears during his rehab assignment.

From your line pairs in other article:
    Martin Fehervary — Nick Jensen
Erik Gustafsson — Trevor van Riemsdyk
    Lucas Johansen — Matt Irwin

Whom do you think he would be replacing?

the easy answer would be Lujo.

Alexeyev was still working off the rust in the four Bears game I saw him play in. This should be interesting.

An interesting decision to get a look at him with barely any practice time with the big club and against the penguins none the less.
