Having already proven to be a valuable contributor to the Washington Capitals’ offense in the wake of a number of injuries, offseason signee Dylan Strome added to his short Capitals resume with another multi-point night on Monday against the Edmonton Oilers.
In a 5-4 decision over the Oilers, Strome struck for two goals and an assist, recording multiple points in a contest for the fourth time this season and the seventh such instance in his career.
Tonight marks Strome’s seventh career multi-goal game and his fourth multi-point effort in 14 games this season, which is the most on the Capitals.

Strome’s first goal came at the 18:15 mark of the first period, unassisted after Strome stripped the puck from Warren Foegele and ripped a shot over the shoulder of Edmonton netminder Stuart Skinner.

Strome’s second goal came less than one minute (26 seconds) into the second frame, this time on assists from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Erik Gustafsson.

The 25-year old finished the night with three points, four shots on goal, and 15:54 (including 4:00 minutes on the Caps’ five power play opportunities). He now has 12 Points (4G, 8A) in 14 Games Played this season, ranking him second (Points, Assists), and tied for second (Goals), respectively. The third overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft (Arizona), Strome signed a one-year deal with the Capitals in free agency after not being tendered a qualifying offer by the Chicago Blackhawks.
“You know, we know we had to make our chances count when we got them”, Strome told the media after the win, “Especially […] on the power play, so got to take advantage of them when they’re there and tonight we did.”
Strome is coming off a 2021-22 season with Chicago in which he recorded a career-high in Goals (22), and 48 Points in 66 Games Played. Through 14 games this season, he has averaged a career-best 17:56 of ice time per game and has recorded six points (3G, 3A) in his past five games played. Additionally, he has a 62.5% Corsi For Percentage through 14 contests this season.

I’ve already asked this once but don’t remember where. I thought those annoying rolling ads on the boards weren’t going to shown on the home team broadcast? If my company had bought ad space on the boards, I’d be demanding a large part of my money back.
I never read that. I was always under the impression that physical ads were going to be for arena fans and some limited camera angles or maybe replays for tv fans. Main tv views were going to have virtual ads determined by the broadcaster. Each team’s broadcasters would be in charge of the ads that their viewers would see.
I also watch the Lightning. Since the Lightning ads didn’t seem to bother me as much as the Caps’ ads and I could replay the game on demand, I replayed it and tried to pay attention to the ads. What I found is that most of their ads just blink into place — very few scroll or do gymnastics. So since you blink and they change, they are a LOT less intrusive. So I think it’s not the NHL or teams but the broadcasters who have control.
Like this kid a lot. Maybe he’s found a home here. At the very least he should be a very talented 3rd line center, when/if Backy comes back. That ripoff of Fogle was exactly what you wanna see. Good hustle play
3rd line center? Backstrom does’nt belong in the top 6 anymore. Strome is an upgrade over Backstron even on the power play. On any other team Backstrom would have been bought out and the GM fired for giving such a bad contract.

What a great addition to the Caps. Can’t wait for Backy to return and help create more depth at center.
