The Capitals held their gameday morning skate at PNC Arena in Raleigh on Monday morning. The team announced prior to the skate that forward T.J. Oshie would be out “indefinitely” and defenseman John Carlson will not play tonight against the Hurricanes. He is listed “day to day”.
#Caps will be without Oshie indefinitely, while Carlson is day to day, but will not play tonight vs. Canes in Raleigh.

During a power play early in the first period of Saturday night’s tilt with the Predators in Nashville, Oshie appeared to pull something while chasing the puck. He subsequently left the game and then proceeded down the Capitals’ tunnel and did not return.
Oshie looked to pull something chasing the puck in the O zone during the Capitals PP. Had to coast back when the Predators had their shorthanded chance and went to locker room.

Midway through the first period, Carlson left due to an awkward fall in the defensive zone. He played a seven-second shift afterward, but that would be it.
The Capitals announced during the first intermission that both Oshie and Carlson sustained lower-body injuries and were considered doubtful to return for the remaining forty minutes of play.

I think Oshie’s career is about done. Love the dude, he’s a huge presence for the team, but the writing is on the wall.
Osh, nooooo!
It’s my fault. I jinxed him when I predicted he would play 70+ games. Should have known better
😂 70 games was….lofty.
I’d rather have him sit the next 70, come back healthy for the playoffs. He was still effective in a couple of games this year, even though he’s clearly been hurting. If he can get healthy, he could be a big help. In the meantime, I think the Caps are better off game-to-game playing healthy kids than a hurt Oshie.
That just might be the plan…kinda like last season.
Poor Osh. He only knows one way to play and can’t adjust for age and injuries. That’s a shame because he is so so good in the locker room and with on the ice/bench motivation. I too don’t see much more of a career for him.
Oshie is an all-time favorite. I just love his play and great attitude. Maybe if he takes enough to time off to heal up he can still contribute in the playoffs.
Sad to see regarding Oshie. I agree with all of you that Oshie might be running out of road here. And it is killing us because we now have to replace him again. We only have so much LTIR available and now we are down 3 RW’s and will need to play lefties over there.
I don’t think Patrick Kane is the answer, but we are likely going to have to go shopping for a Top 6 RW (right shot).
didnt replace backy, didnt replace willy, now no oshie. gmbm needs to go
Hmm… signed Strome to replace Backy for one year to see how things go. Signed Brown to replace Willy. Both players under 30. And he did do a sneaky signing with Sonny Milano who plays wing. He is doing good work.
But it sounds like Oshie will be out long term, so we need to go shopping for a right shot RW.
NOshie!
