Charlie Lindgren Expected To Start, No Vitek Vanecek For Devils Tonight In Jersey

The Capitals held their gameday morning skate this morning at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette made several changes to the forward lines and defensive pairs, most of which reflected the in-game changes he made on Saturday night against the Kings.

It looks like Charlie Lindgren will make his second start of the season tonight against the Devils. He is 0-1-0 with a .923 save percentage and a 3.18 goals against average heading into tonight’s tilt with the Devils.

Unfortunately, for those hoping to see former Capitals netminder Vitek Vanecek, it looks like the Devils will counter with MacKenzie Blackwood between the pipes.

Blackwood has done relatively well for the Devils so far this season, going 3-1-0 with .904 save percentage and a 2.02 goals against average. The Devils have won three-straight coming into tonight’s game. Blackwood was named the NHL’s third star of the week on Monday.

Vanecek has started one game so far for the Devils, and it didn’t go well. He gave up five goals on just 22 shots against for a .773 gave save percentage. He also gave up a goal against good friend Jakub Vrána in the loss to the Red Wings.

Puck drop tonight is set for 7PM.
