The Washington Capitals officially opened their 2022-23 regular season by once again involving the fans with a Rock the Red Carpet event prior to their season and home opener against the Boston Bruins.

The event returns after three years, with COVID-19 protocols and restrictions preventing the team from engaging with the fans outside Capital One Arena. The Capitals’ players will arrive in cars on F Street outside the arena, between 6th and 7th Street NW, before being escorted down the Red Carpet by fans who have been pre-selected for the event. The players are able to engage with fans en route to entering the arena, signing autographs and posing for pictures. NBC Sports Washington, the Capitals’ TV home is hosting pre and post-game shows covering the event (the game will be on national television on TNT).

NoVa Caps was on the scene to capture the evening’s festivities.

Needless to say the District is excited for Caps hockey:

Tom Wilson, who will miss the start of the season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL, spoke with NBCSW’s Al Koken ahead of the Caps-B’s matchup.

    :thumbs up:

Seriously, the questions the athletes are asked. “What do you think of the team?” What do you think he’s going to say? They suck? They look terrible? I’m not sure I want to play with them?

To be fair to Al, the physical vs mental question was valid.

Alas, Alexa with Alan. With Ted buying NBCSW I was so hoping for Rob.
