T.J. Oshie Skates Before Capitals Practice On Friday

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie missed a second consecutive practice on Friday.
However, he did skate before the team’s practice.

Oshie has already been ruled doubtful for Saturday’s preseason finale against the Blue Jackets. This morning’s twirl was more of a test run.

The 35-year-old winger was injured with 5:32 remaining in second period of Wednesday night’s tilt with the Red Wings, when he received a hit along the boards from Detroit’s Joseph Veleno.

Oshie played in just 44 games (11g, 14a) last season after dealing with multiple injuries. Oshie also had a procedure done during the off-season.

“It was just a core procedure that needed to get done. Happened at the end of March. Something that I played through. Got it done, I think, two or three weeks after the season ended. We’re almost kinda back to full.”

Also absent from today’s practice was Dmitry Orlov (lower body injury) and Lars Eller (illness).

The Capitals wrap their preseason schedule on Saturday when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Capital One Arena. Puck drop is set for 7PM.

Which would be better for Osh? Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit or a suit made of the NFL’s new Guardian Cap material?

Hmmm. We might want to seriously consider both.

    • steven says:

The Iron Man suite would probably prevent a lot of hits because it is a hard metal where the NFL Guardian Cap material is just soft. Think the Iron Man would offer more protection and a plus would be the damage he would cause when he hits someone.

Like the hitting someone else part, just worried about concussion.

I worry about TJ as he is 35, on the small size, 6′ 187, and he plays like he is 6’5 250, with no fear. Also he, is like a Timex, takes a beating and keeps on ticking as he plays in from of the net where Mantha should be.

I think Oshie injuries / nicks will be something all season. Another good reason to keep 14 forwards.
