A Chance
Laviolette spoke about prospects getting their shot at the team’s media day on Thursday.
“They’re coming in here trying to earn something. That was a message to everybody. Try and earn an exhibition game. If you earn an exhibition game then you have a chance to show what you can do. Try to earn some more ice time from where you were at last year,” said Laviolette.
”Try and earn a job in Washington, in Hershey, in South Carolina. Try and earn yourself a spot somewhere. And so nothing really changes with regard to that. That’s training camp year after year. You get an opportunity to do something to try and make the most of that opportunity so yu can show what you can do.”
The Capitals and Sabres get things going at 2:00 PM on Sunday. We will have live reports from Capital One Arena, so keep it here.
The Capitals next preseason game is set for Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Do you think Stevenson will get a shot Wednesday? I’d like him to get some game time use out of his new helmet.
I hope so, Fyre. He deserves at least a couple of periods.
Most of the CHL’ers going in this one.
