Sunday was day three of the 2022 Washington Capitals Rookie Camp held at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. The camp will wrap-up on Monday with some players likely returning to their junior teams immediately following the conclusion of camp. Others will remain for the start of main training camp, which begins on Thursday.
NoVa Caps’ photojournalist Joe Noyes was once again on hand Sunday to capture some of the action. You can follow all of his excellent work on his Instagram page or visit his website right here.

No stretchers, gurneys, medics, or blood on the ice. That’s a good sign.
That’s a huuuuge, Roger That! 🙏🤞
Thought about going down, but since it was mostly skating and drills I decided not to. But first pre-season game is next Sunday. Here we go!
Yeah, didn’t miss much. Caps practices start Thursday. Or like you said, preseason starts in 7 days.
pics are awesome, but some info would be nice…like who stood out? who stunk? who made improvements? yada yada yada
It’s rookie camp, instruction for players of various development stages. Who “stood out” would be comparing apples to oranges.
This is correct 👆. In addition to differentials in development, you also have players in various stages of readiness for the season ahead. I would also add (from past experience) there is little to no value in evaluating players during rookie/prospect camps, as it has little to no indication regarding their overall personal development or correlation to level of play. The season ahead will paint that picture. I’ve misjudged a number of players in years past by what was seen in rookie/prospect camps.
so the big comparisons will begin thursday?
Sunday vs. Buffalo.
