We are now just 39 days away from the Washington Capitals opening their 2022-23 season on October 12. Players have already begun their annual migration to MedStar Capitals Iceplex for workouts prior to the start of training camp, which opens on September 22.
In advance of the start of the season, boookmakers in Las Vegas have begun to release various odds for the season, including the over/under Numbers for final standings points for each team.
The Capitals current over/under is set at 95.5, the fourth highest points total in the Metropolitan Division. [Click to enlarge].
Last year’s Vegas odds (here) had the Capitals with the same over/under points at 95.5, and they finished the season with 100 points. We advised to take the “Over” last season, and we’re making the same recommendation this season.
Probably the biggest surprise is the amount of money being wagered on the Pittsburgh Penguins this season. As a result, their over/under is set at a whopping 102.5 points – same as the Hurricanes and more than the Rangers. Take the under, quickly.

That Pittsburgh is indeed juicy. ✅
I’m not betting on season NHL Points but if I did I’d bet the caps over. I just see them hitting the century mark in Points again! 100-103 or so.
Net Negatives- Backy is out for TBD amount of Time.
Willy is out probably December at earliest may sometime in January.
Positive regression/improvements- Got a franchise Netminder you believe/ SC winning goalie with Kuemper. You have both Mantha and Oshie back to full health who you basically missed 50+% of last year both of them and still managed 100 Points.
You acquired Strome to fill in backy 2nd Line C He’ll give 50pts plus
And McMichael more full time role whether 2nd line C or 3rd line C he should get close to 50 Points this yr.
Oh most importantly you still have that OV guy that’ll carry the offense and bang home 50 goals! Wizard named kuzy thstll give you 75-90 points..
So they are 100 pt team
