Schedule And Game Times For Washington Capitals Prospects Haakon Hanelt And Oskar Magnusson In 2022 World Junior Championship

The re-scheduled 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship is set to start on Tuesday in Edmonton, with forwards Haakon Hanelt (Germany) and Oskar Magnusson (Sweden) representing the Washington Capitals.

Canada, Finland, Czechia, Slovakia and Latvia will play in Group A while the United States, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and Austria will compete in Group B. The top-four teams if each group will make the quarter-finals.

All games will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with usually two or three games per day during the preliminary round that will end on 15 August. The four quarter-final games will be played on August 17 with Canada playing the third quarter-final game at 17:00 if qualified.

The semi-final games follow on 19 August. Host Canada if qualified or the team with the best preliminary-round records otherwise will play the early semi-final game at 14:00. The second semi-final game will be played at 18:00. The medal games are set for August 20.

It will be the first time since 1988 that all World Juniors games will be held at one venue with fans in attendance.

    thanks so much for thsi. And a great excuse/reason not to be out in the heat!! Think they will bring the World Juniors to the US any time in the near future?

      You know it, Steven. I’m looking forward to the games.

      As for US in the future, not on the immediate radar. They only schedule a year or two ahead, and I believe after Halifax this December, Stockholm is the following year.

        WEll Halifax I dont know about in December. But then again I have never been and always wanted to go to Nova Scota and this might be a good enticement! And its not far from St Johns where the upbeat Canadian Irish band The Great Big Sea is from. HUMMMMM….have to think about this one!
