Washington Capitals forward prospect Oskar Magnusson has re-signed with AIK in the HockeyAllsvenskan league for the 2022-23 season. Magnusson transferred from the Malmo Redhawks in the top-tier Swedish Hockey League to AIK in the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan league prior to the start of last season.
“The choice to extend with AIK was easy as I feel that I have gotten better and better here,” said Magnusson. “AIK is a good club to develop in. I also think that it is an organization with high standards that wants to win, which suits me perfectly.”
Magnusson stepped down to the HockeyAllsvenskan league for the 2021-22 season, stating the move would allow him more playing time.
“I thought that this would be good for my development and it has turned out that it has been,” said Magnusson to hockeysverige.se.

Magnusson was selected for the junior national team and for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship last December, which was canceled due to the pandemic. Magnusson was also invited to Team Sweden’s selection cam for the rescheduled World Junior Championship, which is scheduled for August 9-20 in Edmonton, Canada.
Magnusson’s development trajectory would have him elevating to Hershey for the start of next season, should the Capitals sign him.

Will be expecting to see him in Hershey in 23/24 and on the Caps in either the 2C or 3C role in 23/24.
Magnusson could be a late round find, but I need to see him in SHL and Hershey. This move seems safe.
Jon… was going to DM you but can’t figure out how to do it here. But with all this Sweden happenings, another interesting piece to cover is that newly signed defensemen, Erik Gustafson just got married in Sweden this last week. Good friend of mine was there. You can pull it up on social media posts and whatever other magic you do to source info.
Awesome!
