The Washington Capitals have improved their play over their last handful of games, and captain Alex Ovechkin is, to no surprise, a major reason why. On Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers, Ovechkin continued to do his part with his 46th goal of the 2021-22 season.
Ovechkin scored his 46th goal of the 2021-22 regular season at the 6:01 mark of the first period, to give the Caps a 1-0 lead, assisted by Conor Sheary and Evgeny Kuznetsov. In addition to it giving the hosts the lead, it was scored at an almost-zero angle.

The goal moves Ovechkin to within four of tying the all-time record of nine 50-goal seasons in a career and gives him 14 goals in his past 18 games played.
