Sunday afternoon the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs will tee it up outdside in the 2022 Heritage Classic in Hamilton, Ontario. The Buffalo Sabres utilized the unique game to make a statement in their arrival attire, dressed in the classic Flint Tropics uniforms straight out of the Will Ferrell movie, “Semi-Pro”.
The uniforms were complete, from the classic short-shorts of the era, the vintage head and wrist bands and vintage shoes. Jackie Moon himself would be so proud.

Some might say the game is their very own “Flint, Michigan Mega Bowl.” Coach Don Granato said defenseman Mark Pysyk came up with the idea, after the Sabres’ originally planned group outfit was used by another team earlier this season (although he didn’t say which idea that was — or which team used it).

As for the Maple Leafs, they too chose to arrive in tamer construction worker attire for the occasion. According to ESPN, the team wanted to honor Hamilton’s steelworker tradition and recognize one of the city’s oldest steel milling firms, Stelco.

Inspired by the St Louis Blues and their beach wear attire for the ultra, uber cold Winter Classic of New Year’s Day, I bet.
Bruins fans are saying they started dress-up tradition 🙄 but I vivid;y recall the Blues beach attire arrival.
Jackie Moooooooooooon! Love that movie. Buffalo got a little mojo going now.
