Capitals Place Dennis Cholowski on Waivers; Re-Assign Brett Leason to AHL

On Tuesday, the Washington Capitals placed defenseman Dennis Cholowski on waivers, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. The Capitals also re-assigned forward Brett Leason to the AHL’s Hershey Bears.

The Capitals claimed him off waivers on October 14 from the Seattle Kraken. Cholowski appeared his seven games with Washington this season, recording one assist and a -4 rating.

Cholowski was previously selected by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft from the Detroit Red Wings. He appeared in 16 games for Detroit last season, recording three points.

Additionally, the Capitals re-assigned Leason to the Hershey Bears. Leason, 22, made his NHL debut on October 29, 2021, against the Arizona Coyotes and has recorded six points (3g, 3a) in 33 games with the Capitals this season. The 6’5″, 218-pound forward has one goal in six games with Hershey.

    He struggled. At 23, I hope he clears and gets to Hershey. I’m not convinced there isn’t any value there. Good size, coachsble.

    Good piece to ahve in the wings but I dont ever see him playing regulary here.
