Ilya Samsonov Gets The Start Against Edmonton Tonight

Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette met with the media Wednesday afternoon. He announced that Ilya Samsonov will get the start tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.

Samsonov will be playing in his second straight night after stopping 43 of 45 shots in the Capitals 4-3 overtime win over the Penguins in Pittsburgh Tuesday night.

Samsonov replaced Vitek Vanecek after Vanecek collided with a Pittsburgh Penguin early in the first period Tuesday night. Samsonov eventually played 57:43 in the Capitals win.

The Capitals moved goaltenders on Wednesday. They recalled Pheonix Copley from Hershey and sent Hunter Shephard back to the Bears on Wednesday.

The Capitals host the Edmonton Oilers tonight at 7:00 PM on TNT.
