Goalie artist Dave Gunnarsson has been working hard for his clients in the Washington Capitals’ organization. Two weeks ago he released imagery of Ryan Bednard’s new bucket design. Today Gunnarsson released on his Instagram page photos and a video of his new design for Ilya Samsonov’s new mask.
The “Reverse Retro” design is closely aligned with the Capitals “Reverse Retro” uniform design that was released last season. The new mask design incorporates the usual Screaming Eagle and Capitol dome with an outline of the Washington D.C. skyline across the front. It also includes a scene from Russia and Samsonov’s #30 across the chin.
Gunnarsson inscribed Friday’s posts:
“It was an awesome paint ride to paint and create this Caps bucket for my friend Ilya Samsonov⭐️🇷🇺😊. It was an early summer morning I started with the painting, I love to paint early in the mornings in the paint barn🌄🎨👨🏻🌾. A storytelling Caps design hovering around the mask🚀, creating an action packed design loaded with details and 3️⃣-D effects. Thanks Ilya for the paint ride! 🙏🏻😊⭐️ @samsonov_30 @capitals #DaveArtFamily @nhl #DaveArtTheCradleOfCreativity mask: @proschoicemask
Gunnarsson also released one of his typical short video clips of the design on his Instagram page on Friday.
In addition to Samsonov and Bedanrd, Gunnarsson has done designs for Capitals’ netminders Pheonix Copley and Vitek Vanecek. Hopefully there are new designs on the way for them as well.
Thoughts on the new design?
