Connor Alper is a young Washington Capitals fan who traveled with his dad from Chicago to Detroit to watch the Capitals take on the Red Wings in a New Year’s Eve clash Friday night. His biggest wish was to catch the attention of center Connor McMichael and possibly receive a stick.

This morning, his father Michael tweeted a photo of Connor with the sign he would be taking to the game:

Anticipation and excitement built all day. Finally, it was time to head to Little Caesars Arena. The father and son duo watched the pregame skate as Connor held his sign against the glass hoping to see No. 24.

He did and McMichael delivered, tossing his stick over the glass to Connor:

What a cool moment! Congrats to Connor and we hope you are enjoying the game!
