Rocking the Rink: Washington Capitals Fans Enjoy A Night At The Wharf

Washington Capitals

While the Washington Capitals were in Winnipeg, Manitoba taking on the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night in an eventual 5-2 victory, their fans celebrated a beautiful Washington, D.C. evening at popular waterfront complex The Wharf at a “Rock the Rink” viewing party event hosted by the Caps.

The team hosted a skate and giveaways, and the event featured Capitals giveaways, themed beverages, and special treats available for purchase.

Fans enjoyed the skate and other treats at 7:00 PM EST, an hour before puck drop.

The team’s game against the Jets was broadcast on a jumbotron for fans in attendance to view. A portion of the night’s earnings would go towards benefiting Southwest Washington, D.C. neighborhoods.

Former Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner covered the event for NBC Sports Washington during the night as part of the network’s coverage of the team’s game against Winnipeg.

All in all, fans and others in attendance enjoyed a good night capped off by a victory by a Capitals team without Nicklas Backstrom and others due to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols.

looks like a great night was had! Hosting is kind of a strange description. If they charged, I am not sure it is hosting and no Caps seemed to have been there. But, whatever. Still a fun night. I don’t feel like I am hosting a party if I am charging people to attend.
