Capitals Announce Nic Dowd Is In COVID Protocol

The Washington Capitals announced on Friday afternoon that center Nic Dowd is in COVID-19 protocol.

Dowd did not participate in the Capitals practice on Friday, but did play in Thursday night’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Dowd has three goals and four assists for seven points in 16 games played so far this season. He’s averaging 14:03 of ice time per game.

Mike Sgarbossa, who has a goal in four games this season, will likely draw into the lineup. He’s Washington’s only remaining extra healthy skater.

The Capitals are back in action on Saturday night when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Capital One Arena.
