Thirty-one games will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton and the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer from 26 December, 2021 to 5th January 2022.
The 10-team tournament features Canada in Group A with Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland and Germany in Edmonton, while Group B is comprised of Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden and the United States in Red Deer.
The event kicks off with a marquee matchup as Russia faces Sweden in Red Deer, while Finland takes on Germany in Edmonton. The evening games will see hosts Canada play the Czech Republic and USA face off against Slovakia.
This will be the second selection camp for Lapierre. He was cut from last year’s camp and did not make the final roster. This will be Iorio’s first selection camp.
Team Canada took home the silver medal in last year’s tournament, losing to Team USA 2-0 in the championship game. It was the fifth gold medal for the United States in the tournament and the fifth time in the last six years that Team USA has medaled in the event, the best medal stretch in the nation’s history.
