Washington Capitals Center Evgeny Kuznetsov has been one of the team’s best players through the first quarter of the 2021-22 season, his presence on the ice noticeable on a nightly basis. The former first-round pick has been one of the team’s best offensive and all-around players this season, and in the Caps’ 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Friday night, he continued with a three-assist night.

Kuznetsov’s first assist came shorthanded, on a goal by Tom Wilson, that tied the game 1-1.

Kuznetsov’s second and third assists came on goals by captain Alex Ovechkin, who finished the game with a hat trick, including a beautiful, skate-to-stick play on Ovechkin’s third goal.

Kuznetsov’s second assist marked his eighth game of the 2021-22 season with multiple points, and his second consecutive multi-point showing. Additionally, Kuznetsov’s three-helper performance marked the 18th such game with at least three assists.

Kuznetsov finished the contest winning 50% of his faceoff draws and having played 25:03 of ice time, including 2:31 on the penalty kill. The times were significant for Kuznetsov.
