It’s been a crazy couple of days for Capitals’ forward Garrett Pilon. He was recalled by the Capitals on Monday, just in time to make a Capitals practice and catch a flight with the team to the west coast. A few hours later Pilon would notch his first career NHL goal.
His inaugural tally came early in the final frame of the 3-2 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. He would deflect a shot from the left point by defenseman Martin Fehervary to tie the game 1-1.

Just hours before being recalled by the Capitals on Monday, Pilon would turn in this gem for the Bears on Sunday.

Pilon, 23, made his NHL debut with the Capitals last season on May 8, 2021, against the Philadelphia Flyers. This season, the 6’0″, 190-pound forward leads Hershey with 11 points (5g, 6a) in 13 games and is tied for first in goals. Pilon is the fifth different Capitals rookie this season to score his first career goal.
