With just 22 players on their active roster, the Washington Capitals recalled left-wing Axel Jonsson-Fjallby from the AHL’s Hershey Bears on Sunday.
The 23-year-old, who has recorded three goals and seven points in nine AHL games this season, was scratched from the Bears game on Sunday.
The Capitals are currently without center Nicklas Backstrom (hip injury, out week-to-week), right-wing T.J. Oshie (lower-body injury, out week-to-week), and left-wing Anthony Mantha (shoulder injury, out indefinitely).
The Buffalo Sabres claimed Jonsson-Fjallby, who was taken 147th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Capitals, via waivers on October 4 but lost him to the Capitals on waivers six days later. He has yet to play in an NHL regular-season game in his career.
The Capitals have had center Aliaksei Protas, right-wing Brett Leason, and center Hendrix Lapierre all make their NHL debuts this season.
The Capitals host the Sabres at Capital One Arena on Monday (7 PM ET, NBC Sports Washington).

Great!! PUT ALL the young guys on the ice and let them plat 15/16 minutes. Even let them try some PP and PK. And let them try the 3-on-3 if the game goes into OT as they cant do any worse than the current group!
