Despite the Washington Capitals’ first regulation loss of the season, Monday’s game saw significant moments for the team: prospects Aliaksei Protas making his NHL debut and Brett Leason scoring his first career goal. Another exciting moment was forward Conor Sheary notching his first goal of the season in the team’s 3-2 fall to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.

On a power-play, Sheary cut the Lightning’s lead to 3-2 at the 11:38 mark of the final period. Center Evgeny Kuznetsov and defenseman John Carlson assisted.

It marked his first goal of the season and his third point in his last four games.

Kuznetsov’s assist marked his eighth assist in his ninth game this season. Carlson also extended his point streak by recording his fourth point in his last four games (2g, 2a).
