Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov Starting Off 2021-22 Season With a Bang; Has Eight Points in Four Games

Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov continued his hot streak Thursday night in the team’s 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center. The 29-year-old scored his third goal of the season and now has eight points in four games.

Kuznetsov scored at the 9:16 mark in the final period and gave the Capitals a 4-0 lead. Forward Tom Wilson assisted.

The goal marked his third in two games. Kuznetsov scored twice in Tuesday’s 6-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche at Capital One Arena.

Along with captain Alex Ovechkin, Kuznetsov is in the top three in the league with eight points:

The good start for Kuznetsov was much needed because, in some sense, this season could be seen as a fork in the road for him. He reacted in the most positive fashion, staying in Northern Virginia all of last summer, working out and working on his game, and showed up at Capitals training camp in great shape and ready to roll.

Kuznetsov and the Capitals are back in action hosting the Calgary Flames in a Saturday matinee (1 PM ET, NBC Sports Washington locally, NHL Network nationally) at Capital One Arena.

We’ve seen Kuzy go through great spurts of production. The question has always been consistency. Can he do it for a majority of the season and not check out for a few months. Hopefully this time is different.

Lots of players with that skill set are streaky. His effort and attitude is what i like.
