Tuesday’s game between the Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche marked another major milestone for Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin. He played in his 1,200th career game! In the 6-3 victory over the Avalanche, The Great Eight scored his fourth goal of the season and career goal No. 734, putting him only eight shy for the fourth-most goals in NHL history.
Ovechkin scored an empty-net goal with just over two minutes remaining in the final period, sealing a 6-3 win for Washington. Forward Tom Wilson and center Evgeny Kuznetsov assisted.

The goal marked his 734th career goal and fourth of the 2021-22 season through the first three games. Ovechkin is eight goals away from passing Brett Hull for the fourth-most goals in league history.
Ovechkin has scored four goals through the Capitals’ first three games and is now eight goals shy of passing Brett Hull (741) for the fourth most goals in NHL history.
