Joaquim Lemay Named Defensive Player Of The Week In USHL

Washington Capitals defensive prospect Joaquim Lemay is off to hot offensive start in his first season with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. He was named the defensive player of the week on October 13.

With four points in two games, the Lincoln Stars (Nebraska) full-back was one of his club’s headliners in two wins over the Sioux Falls Stampede. Lemay, 19, started off with two assists in a 6-1 win, before adding an assist and scoring his first USHL goal in Game 2, the winning goal on top of that.

Lemay has four points and is a +1 in five games so far this season with the Stars.

A Fourth-round pick, 119th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Lemay is a product of Denis Francoeur’s hockey program. He notably worked in Trois-Rivières for the Collège Marie-de-Incarnation and the Séminaire Saint-Joseph.

Lemay is currently playing his first season in the USHL. He is expected to join the US college ranks next year by lining up for Nebraska-Omaha.
