Capitals Prospect Bear Hughes Records Two Goals, Assist In Spokane Chiefs 5-1 Win Over The Tri-City Americans

Washington Capitals center prospect Bear Hughes recorded two goals for the Spokane Chiefs (WHL) in Saturday night’s 5-1 win over the Tri-City Americans. The goals were the second and third in four games played so far this season for Hughes. He also recorded an assist in the game.

Hughes first tally came on a nice breakaway rush just 28 seconds into the second period, tying the game 1-1.

His second goal would come later in the middle frame on the power play, giving the Chiefs an early 2-1 lead.

Hughes back-to-back goals were the first of five unanswered goals by the Chiefs.

Hughes now has three goals and four assists in four games played so far for the Chiefs. He has 14 shots on goal for a 21.4 shooting percentage.

Hughes, 20, was a fifth-round draft pick (#148 overall) by the Capitals in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6’-2” center attended Capitals’ prospect camp at the end of September and participated in the Capitals main training camp before returning to the Spokane Chiefs on September 28.
